Best known as the writer and co-executive producer of HBO’s House of Cards, Sarah Treem started her career as a playwright. Her play, The How and the Why, focuses on the relationship between two women scientists and the clash they have over opposing hypotheses on why women menstruate. It premiered in 2011 in New Jersey and has been performed all over the USA ever since.
